Our School Garden

In 2011, our school garden was established and since then, it has blossomed and grown from strength to strength. The garden has now become an intrinsic part of our school life and curriculum. We welcomed the introduction of a sensory garden which is a wonderful resource for all our pupils. During our Whole School Inspection, the inspectors gave very positive feedback and praise to our school garden and remarked on what an amazing facility it is to have in a city school.  We were also awarded our fifth Green School Flag for Biodiversity. In February 2020, our pupils were involved in a 'Save the Bees' campaign and featured on a Super Valu television advertisement. Beaumont Girls' School was 'Award Winning Garden 2021' in the new 'Cork Celebrates Lifelong Learning' initiative in March. Having received a gold medal in the Muintir na Tíre 2022 competition, we were thrilled to be awarded Cork City Muintir na Tíre overall prize winners in 2023. We believe in promoting healthy eating in Beaumont Girls' School and we were delighted to participate in the Incredible Edibles programme in 2023 and receive a gold status award. We are fortunate to have assistance from parents and grandparents from the community who tend to our garden on a voluntary basis. The pupils have gained a wealth of knowledge from these helpers.
