This Friday marked the second meeting of our Book Buddies programme, where Mr. Wilson’s 4th Class and Ms. Aherne’s 1st Class come together to share the joy of reading. The children gathered in pairs, with each older pupil guiding and encouraging their younger buddy through a story of their choice.
The atmosphere was warm and focused, as 1st Class students gained confidence in sounding out words and discussing stories, while 4th Class students developed their leadership, patience, and communication skills. Each session is designed not only to promote literacy, but also to foster friendships across classes.
The benefits of Book Buddies are clear:

We are already seeing fantastic progress after just two weeks, and the children look forward to their Friday sessions with excitement. Book Buddies is proving to be a wonderful way of blending learning with friendship.
