4th Class 3D Printing Challenge Entry

12th Dec 2022

Mr Wilson's 4th class were crossing their fingers as they pressed 'upload' on our 3D Printing challenge video.

We have been working very hard on our ideas for the competition over the past few months. We had so many ideas, it is clear to see that many of the girls will go on to invent life-changing inventions!

We decided on making a "Pencil Extender" to give old, tiny pencils a new lease of life! This is in keeping with the focus on sustainability that the challenge exemplified. We are reducing waste by giving something old a new life.

We investigated our target market, and conducted data surveys to choose what shapes to go with. We figured our that hexagonal shaped pencils were the most common, so chose that as our basic design.

We focused on creating a design that included an ergonomic component to not only create something functional, but an improvement on what we had before.

We had so many prototypes, but eventually we came to a design that we all agreed was perfect.

Check out our video below to see the whole process!
