4th Class History Projects
In our recent history project, the classroom was buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and collaboration as the children were given the opportunity to dive into a historical location of their own choosing. From ancient wonders to more modern landmarks, each pupil selected a site that captured their imagination and set out on a journey of discovery.
Using Google Classroom, the children created a digital slide project which they could access both at home and in school. This cloud-based approach meant that learning continued seamlessly beyond the classroom walls, and it allowed pupils to take ownership of their research and presentation.
What made this project even more impressive was the level of independent learning involved. Each student followed a clear grading rubric and metric, helping them to understand what high-quality work looks like and how their projects would be assessed. This gave them a real insight into self-assessment and helped build confidence in their own abilities.
To bring their historical locations to life, the pupils then moved into the model-making phase. The results were nothing short of amazing! From papier mâché pyramids and clay castles to cardboard temples and hot glue battlements, the variety of materials and techniques used showed just how imaginative and resourceful the children were.
This was truly a cross-curricular project, combining history, digital skills, art, and critical thinking – all while giving pupils a chance to showcase their interests and talents. We’re incredibly proud of their work and look forward to sharing the models and digital presentations with parents and guardians very soon!
