4th Class History Trip and Sciath Na Scoil Experience
Mr Wilson's and Ms Wood's 4th Classes enjoyed a fantastic local outing this week! We began the morning with a lovely walk to The Rockies to cheer on Beaumont GNS in the Sciath na Scoil semi-final against Crosshaven. The atmosphere was electric, and the girls played brilliantly. It was great to see such teamwork, determination, and school spirit on the pitch — and just as much enthusiasm in the stands from our supporters!
After the match, we continued our walk to visit the grave of George Boole, one of Cork’s most important historical figures and a world-famous mathematician. Boole’s ideas about logic — using true or false statements — are the foundation of how computers work today. It was amazing to stand where such a groundbreaking thinker rests and to reflect on how his work still shapes our modern world.
We then enjoyed a peaceful walk back to school, tired but happy after a brilliant morning full of learning, sport, and local history.
