4th Class Transformations of Shapes
Mr Wilson’s 4th Class have been busy diving into the world of transformations this week as part of the new Maths Curriculum — and we added a creative twist!
To help us understand reflection and mirroring, we blended maths with art and created our very own reflection butterflies. The girls explored how shapes can be flipped across a line of symmetry and discovered how artists often use symmetry to create balance and beauty.
Armed with vivid colours, careful folding, and plenty of imagination, the class transformed simple shapes into stunning butterfly wings that perfectly mirrored each other. The results were bright, eye-catching, and a brilliant example of how maths can come to life through creativity.
It was a wonderful hands-on learning experience, and the classroom is now filled with gorgeous symmetrical butterflies proudly displayed for everyone to enjoy!
