Fantasy Cartography in 4th Class
Mr. Wilson’s fourth class took art and storytelling on an adventure this week! ✨
As part of our narrative story writing, we created our very own fantasy maps. Using rice on large sheets of paper, we carefully traced around the shapes to form the outlines of imaginative landmasses. From there, we explored the art of symbology and looked at how famous fantasy maps from literature, movies, and TV use symbols to bring entire worlds to life.
The girls had great fun designing their own maps full of mountains, forests, seas, secret islands, and even a few surprises! 🗺️ The creativity and inventive ideas were fantastic to see, and every map turned into a unique world waiting for a story.
These maps will now become the settings for our narrative stories, helping us bring our fantasy adventures to life.
We will be staining the maps with coffee to give them an ancient and mysterious vibe.
