Fourth Class Tallest Tower Competition

19th Nov 2025

This week in Science, Mr. Wilson’s 4th Class put their engineering hats on to explore the concepts of strength and stability. We began by investigating which shapes were the strongest — testing triangles, squares, and circles to see which could hold the most weight without collapsing. After lots of squishing, pushing, and predicting, we discovered that the triangle is one of the strongest and most stable shapes of all!

With this knowledge in mind, the real challenge began: a competition to build the tallest tower using only play dough and spaghetti! Each team had to think carefully about structure, balance, and how to make their towers strong enough to stand tall without toppling.

There was lots of excitement, laughter, and some very creative designs — some soared high, others leaned a little too far, but all were brilliant efforts! It was a fantastic, hands-on way to explore science, engineering, and teamwork. 🧠💡
