Fourth Fraction FUN

19th Nov 2025

This week, Mr. Wilson’s 4th Class had lots of fun exploring the world of fractions! Using lollipop sticks, the girls worked together to group them into sets with different denominators. Mr. Wilson asked an interesting question — how could 5 individual sticks be seen as 1 group of 5?

Before long, the class realised something exciting — finding fractions is actually very similar to division! We spoke about place value and how one whole thing can be made up of smaller, equal parts. To make the idea even clearer, we imagined a pizza being divided into equal slices.

Mr. Wilson even joked, “Would you like your pizza cut into 5 slices or 10?” and the class laughed when he added, “5 please — I couldn’t eat 10!”

It was a fantastic hands-on maths lesson full of discussion, discovery, and a sprinkle of humour! 🍭➗
