Harp Lessons in Mr Wilson’s 4th class
Today, we were treated to something truly special. A huge thank you to Muireann for bringing in her beautiful harp to share with the class.
As part of our work on Irish music and heritage, we spent time learning about the history of the Irish harp, one of the oldest musical traditions in Europe and a proud symbol of Ireland. We also explored the life of Turlough O’Carolan, the blind harper and composer who travelled across Ireland in the 17th and 18th centuries. O’Carolan created hundreds of melodies that blended Irish tradition with European classical style, and his music continues to inspire players today — including talented young musicians like Muireann!
Muireann helped bring all of this learning to life. She played for us, demonstrated how her harp works, and even taught her classmates the basics of technique and sound. Her confidence, talent and generosity made the whole lesson feel magical.
Well done, Muireann — you were absolutely brilliant, and we are so lucky to have you in 4th class! 🎶💚
