Our Starry Night Inspired Artwork
This week, Ms Fahy's junior infants were introduced to the work of Vincent van Gogh through a creative, hands-on art activity inspired by Starry Night, focusing on colour and different painting instruments.
The children explored Van Gogh’s love of movement by using their hands in swirling motions to paint the background, creating a flowing night sky. They traced around a castle outline and painted it black, helping it stand out clearly against the colourful background.
To add texture and detail, the girls experimented with a variety of tools. Cotton buds and forks were used to create the sweeping wind, while finger dots and small picks helped form bright stars and swirling shapes around them. This activity encouraged creativity, fine motor development, and curiosity about how different tools can be used to achieve different effects in art.
